URGENT....SUMMER CAMP....Put the date on you calendar NOW!!!  The troop will be attending summer camp at Bert Adams the week of May 31-June 6th. The cost will be @$350 per scout. Details and sign up sheet to follow ASAP> Be looking for it. Be sure to reserve that week for lots of FUN with T2019 at Camp!!!!!

THIS CAMPOUT WILL BE RESCHEDULED.....STAY TUNED......Advancement/Skills Review/New Scout Campout! March 27-29th at Lake Allatoon Aquatics Base. ALL SCOUTS are invited to join us for a weekend of fun camping less than 30 minutes away. Goal - our primary goal is to give the girls (especially the newest scouts)  a taste of scout camping and help them understand how patrols work together ... each with specific tasks ... and how the communication and organization flows on outings via patrol method.  We'll also explain and demonstrate a number of skills to know (working with tools in the Axe yard, lighting stoves or charcoal, preparing dishwater, cleaning process, cooking their own food, pitching their own tents, packing up gear, new knots to learn, whipping/fusing rope, first aid, cooking safety and food handling,  what they need to have for personal gear, etc.). While we may sign off on certain requirements, we are more focused on explanation and exposure at this point. Older scouts can and should attend, so they can work on other advancement items. There is something for everyone so try your best to attend. Registration is open and flyers are available at the meetings. YOu can pay with check or Credit card. See Mr. or Mrs. Caffrey if you have questions. michael.caffrey@ioausa.com or caffrey@kw.com

Climbing MB, Knots & or First Aid finish-up- If you didn't get to meet with Mr Ozzie at the last meeting, I think only 5 of you were able to, He stressed that the Scouts need to be prepared and know better how to tie the knots & first aid. This video is an EXCELLENT resource to learn the knots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tir98E-r0lw  I sent out the PDF's on knots, Merit badge pamphlet PDF & Worksheet.  The Worksheet for 1st Aid needs to be complete if you need requirement 1. Email Mr Hoffman @ jcwhoffman@gmail.com ( make sure to copy another leader and parent for YPT compliance) or text Mr. Hoffman at 404-797-9829( always copy your parent) to confirm you need too still complete Requirements 1 and/or 7 or any others. I will be Scheduling a time outside regular meeting times to get this completed.

"It's KNOTS time again... But this time with a twist! .. We currently have this scheduled for the March 17th meeting, you don't want to miss!!  This time we will be learning two new knots: the Monkey Fist and the Cobra knot. Put these together and you can make a BABY YODA. That's right, it is time to learn how to make a Baby Yoda Paracord Keychain! Cecilia, Gahn and other scouts will teach you everything you need to know. We hope to see you there."

The Troop is continuing with "Round Two" of the First year program. ( This program gives the scouts a jumpstart on their advancement) If you joined the troop AFTER summer camp, you will want and need to take this course. IT will take place during meetings and will involve the scouts, some leaders with ASM Mr. Caffrey taking charge of the program and signing off the new scouts. Look for more details soon. See Mr. Caffrey if you have questions. Michael.Caffrey@ioausa.com

Fundraising Committee The troop leaders tried really hard to keep the DUES down this year. We NEED YOUR HELP, to offset the dues increase the troop is going to need to hold SEVERAL fund-raising events. We have formed a group of parents and leaders that have agreed to help us come up with and complete VARIOUS fundraising activities throughout 2020. Please consider volunteering to be on the committee. WE have a few members already and could use some MORE! Thanks See SM or CC with questions.

The troop is starting a new way to handle advancement. Scoutbook.com is here...Please bring your Scout handbook and electronic device( Smart Phone, Tablet, Ipad, laptop)  to the Troop Meetings moving forward. We will be doing some training on how to enter your own Advancement in Scoutbook. it can be done by either a Scout, or Parent, but a select few leaders will need to review what is entered and approve the advancement before it becomes official. The church has given us the password and access to Wi-Fi in the Parish hall so be ready to go on-line with your device Monday night.  . Any questions please email Mr Hoffman @ jcwhoffman@gmail.com or Mr. Stadler kstadler@mindspring.com
